What coral is your tanks canary?

I use a tree coral it works great! The only false reading I get is when it's popping it's tops other then that it will tell everything

Trachy and Lobo for me. My LPS always show signs of stress before my SPS.

Same for me. - my frogspawn and acans tend to get ****ed

SPS - My sunset monti blands ou

Stray current - My frogspawn will not puff up

For red bugs, my rosaria completely browns first.

For AEFW, tri color valida & millies.

Great thread OP! Sounds like I need to get a birdnest

funny people report this with birdsnest, mine is so tough it has survived tank crashes from a skimmer blowing and whole C02 bottle dumping overnight whilst still remaining bright pink, just stopped growing for a few days.

+1

I am not sure if I could kill my birdsnest if I tried.

GSP monitors SG.

Torch and hammer for food.

Monti, including caps for DOCs

Slimers for temp.

Millies for PH.

Leather just don't seem to give a S**T. Just keep 'em away from the LPS!

Great thread!

Sorry, I know this is an ancient thread but found it interesting.
Just wondering if anyone else has a 'canary and/or indicator coral' they use as an early warning detector when parameters are off.

I have a mixed lps/sps 180 and my green plating monti is always the first to slowly stress before anything else..

i use a tricolor valida.. when come violet tank is fat ...when come brown tank is wrong ,,when come white with purple tips is all ok

Birdsnest is the overall canary, and I use my bonsai as a monitor for phosphate. When the base browns out a bit, time to change GFO!

Mine is my blasto's when they are puffy life is good. If not I start looking at my alk and ph.
Another thing I have noticed is my sps get really bright when the alk starts to drop for some reason.
