What did I do wrong?

I had a pretty big water change done yesterday afternoon on my biocube because I left town for a few days and my sis said she over fed my fish and this morning when I turned on my lights my monti was encrusted white along with another coral I had won at the raffle at the last meeting my frog spawn hasn't opened up yet but my zoanthids are doing just fine, what the hell could it be that I did? My p.h. Is 8.2 my ammonia is 0 nitrite 0 and nitrate 0. I took my turkey baster and blew some water on my monti because I thought it was sand and all of the red blew off and it looks bleached smh and it was growing so nicely. Pease can someone advise me on what it might be that's doing this?

My salt is 1.025 I didn't get to check my cal or alk because its almost impossible to do the one drop at a time thing with my son running around I spoke to doc Lopez and he told me I have to always make sure those levels match when I do a big water change, smh, I should have just done a small water change.

Thank you for your help and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with alk or calcium because I dumped some liquid calcium in last night and that probable shot ll the levels through the roof :headwalls: never again will I do that mistake or not take any tests when/if I do a big water changes

Yes I'm going for only an hour or so I have a communion reception @5:30 but I don't want to miss the meeting , I'll see you then

I believe this is the cause of your problem... taken from a recent post of yours regarding the waste water kit you mentioned.
" I myself have not purchased it but I am also still using my regular tap until I can get my r.o. System running then I will try to get one of these ASAP "

Hope you get the RO unit up and running.. u just need the flow restrictor.

No bro I came to the conclusion that I'm a meat head and after I changed the water I dumped in some calcium and essential elements and it sent some levels through the roof I tried looking for some connections for the plumbing for the r.o. System and I can't seem to get the right one so its still sitting under my sink I'm going to just end up putting it in my laundry room and hope I can connect it easier

Sorry to hear of your troubles! Don't beat yourself up, plenty of us myself included have done dumb stuff. We live, and learn. Just don't do the same thing that caused issues again.;)

What part is it that you are looking for your RO unit? I found everything I needed at HD.;) I have my RO/DI unit hard plumbed under my bathroom sink. Not hard to do.

Thanks Awi I only lost a few corals so its not that bad but I'm not exactly sure of what it is I need I think it's a valve that I can connect my cold water line and r.o. At the same time and switch one to the other, I am absolutely horrible at plumbing and no matter what I think I need it's always the wrong one when I get back from h.d. Lol ill just keep trying I guess

Sorry for the delayed response Bobby!

I connected my ro/di directly to the cold water line under the bathroom sink. I used this part to connect the water line to the sink, and the ro/di. It works great. I can run the ro/di, and use the faucet at the same time.

It's a comprenssion Adapt-A-Valve;

Hmm ok I just checked on it and it might work I'm going to take a picture of what's going on under my sink so maybe that will help with my description I really am horrible with trying to find the right size fitting for my sink but thank you though

i think that might be what i need i have to figure out the size of the fitting i know the copper elbow has a reducer on it and thats what is throwing me off

Of course I can be wrong but I think the shutt off valve for sinks are the same size.

You can talk to the plumbing department person (just be careful to speak to one that actually knows their business ;) ). I spoke to "Juan", but he is at the Valley Stream HD.:(
At the Ozone Park HD I would speak to "Carl".;)

I spoke with OPG today and he told me that he was going to swing by to take a look at my plumbing and let me know what I need to get this darn thing up and running I'm going to have to go to Home Depot and buy one of those plumbing for dummies books lol I will ask for Carl when I get to the plumbing section
