What do red streaks mean

My yellow tang has some red streaks on the top tips of his fins. some of the fin appears to have deteriorated. Can someone tell me what this is so that I can properly treat it? Thanks

how long have you had him?

When did you notice it? Is it getting worse or better?

Is it in QT or the main tank?

high ammonia levels or a bacterial infection.

This is a common problem with tangs - bacterial issue - used to be a sticky on the subject at the top of this forum. Should go away with good water quality and nutritional food - if not QT and use an antibiotic - no big deal.

I've had him for about six months. He has always been a good eater. The fins are deteriorating more so, It is getting worse. I was goning to QT him tonight. I'll try the antibactial meds. Thanks all.

Check pH, alkalinity, and nitrate levels.
