I find the guys very interesting but are they really reef safe, since they snip at everything they see to cover themselves up?

I have to agree here. Although they don't try to hurt the corals they can cause damage. If you do try it, it's really cool to look at a completely decked out "frag master" when the corals are living on him.

I have had a big one about 4 1/2 inches in my reef for 2 years he picks zoas and stuff and transplants them elsewhere but thats good now I have more colonies growing and he is the talk of the kids they got interested in the hobby because of him.

I had one in my reef for a while. He liked to decorate with the cheap end side of the zoos. He was ok, just not sure I wanted my cheap zoos spread all over the tank. he also liked to cut my xenai, which was great at first.

I think these crabs are very cool... In my current situation, I would not add one because I'm still working on getting my tank into that "cpmpletely covered in coral/overcrowding issues" state... If and when I reach that point, I think a decorator crab would be a great addition, and could very possibly actually help control things, perhaps keeping some of the overcrowding corals at bay. Just my 2 cents.
