What do you all use to control Temperature?

Just curious as to what you all use for temperature control? Do you use a fancy Aquacontroller style or just a temp controller of some kind...I am looking for something decently priced for my 24G NanoCube. Thanks all!

I use a RK2 with fans and a heater.

You can also get a ranco controller with fans.

what is RK2?

looks a lot like the Aquacontroller Jr. I was looking at that but to get one and fully set it up you have to buy a million $$$'s of accessories to make it work the whole tank...it doesnt even come with the Ph probe...what a total rip off...maybe if the base unit was $50 and then buy all the extras.

so If I was to get an aqua controller jr or the RK2....do either of them come with the full setup or what key accesories can you not do without?

so basically what I am trying to determine is it worth it for me just to get a dual stage Ranco temp controller for $140 or get something like an Aquacontroller jr or Reefkeeper 2, which will do a ton more? I am kinda leaning towards the controller but I keep hearing how good both of them are. Hmmmm decisions

I use the ACIII with my chiller and heaters. The ACIII does all sorts of nifty keen stuff. You will also need either a DC8 (direct connect) socket or X10 modules.

The ACJr. is a great way to go, but definitely more expensive. I guess it all depends on how much disposable income you have and what you want to get out of it.

Remember, they aren't mutually exclusive. I bet you could find a way to run both. I am not saying that that is the way to go, but a reefer can never have too many toys or as I explain to my wife, "you can never have too many back-up systems and supplies." I'm not saying that she goes for it, but at least I have an excuse for buying that expensive... (I hope she doesn't read this one)

I ran my tank with fans on timers for a long time and it did fine. I had the fans on when the lights were on and during the summer I had an additional fan that ran pretty much 24/7.

I eventually got a RK2 and also feel it was a great investment. My temp is more stable now and I have security with the light shut off control.

to anyone who owns an AC jr.....it looks like it only has 1 probe connection...so does that mean you can either hook up temp probe or ph probe and not both? just curious if I can just buy the controller with the DC 8 and be gold or do I need to buy some of the X10 timers to get it rolling...maybe those would be future purchasing to control lighting...moon cycles...wave cycles...etc?

I used a Medusa dual stage for years until I got the RK2 best investment made I use it to control everything but the chiller (has a built in temp controller)

the ac jr has hookups for both temp and ph. the temp prob uses a phone connector - i believe it is called rj9. The ac jr is more advanced then the rk2 and will allow you do do more things cause it has more advanced programming, but the rk2 is typically cheaper and easier to use for alot of people.

I use the RK2 When my temp hits 78.9 my heater kicks on.
When my tank hits 79.5 my fans come on It really keeps
my tank at a stable temp! Worth the money, and it gets
rid of all the extension cords to the tank.
