What do you feed a new 10" personifer ?

To ween him off shellfish I would try PE mysis (they are large) soaked in Selcon. The Selcon seems to add a taste they like. Turn off all your pumps so he (she?) can watch the mysis slowly drop to the bottom and then watch them for a while as they sit in one place. They usually begin to circle the mysis on the bottom and start "smelling" and sucking one in/spitting it out before they figure out that is what they want.

Also, believe if or not, the sinking spectrum pellets also do well with larger angels. More so if its on a bare bottom vs. sand. The bare bottom makes it easier to find whatever food sinks to the bottom. Again, turn all water flow off for 10 - 20 minutes so they can watch the food and get a line on the food and easily get to it.

A last suggestion - I forget what they are called - but some shops sell these little live fresh water feeder shrimp. They live in SW for several days and I've found that anything that can fit them in their mouths likes to eat them. Those angels foods with sponges, etc are no doubt very good for them but I have found them to be one of the least palatable foods for all sizes of newly acquired angels. Not sure what the issue is but the Formula 1 and 2 pellets always get eaten much better.

Lastly...not sure if this fish was QT'ed but when I was last acquiring fish (few years back) pretty much everything had flukes. So it may be a good idea to QT him/her with prazipro, or do a cycle in your tank if its feasible. Big angels in particular have a solid track record of BIG numbers of flukes and can take several months for them to show ill effects from them.

Good luck with your specimen.

If he is eating from the water column yet, another food I would try is Ocean Nutrition VHP formula frozen food. My fish , including my meredithis, and my old regal angel, also prefer it over other ON frozen cubes. Just make sure to mince it, or crush it, into tiny pieces for now...

The new fish eats In the water column today ( Meredith , scribble , grey and male masked )

The large Meredith and yellow belly regal is still in training.

What if he was going to convert the 435 just for those fish? I suppose in your wealth of knowledge, you can predict the future?!? Why don't you respectfully bow out.
