What do you feed your SPS corals?

Good night everyone,
I was just curios if anyone feeds their SPS corals anything in particular. I have Oceans Blend, Coral Vibrance and I was curios if it actually works and if PE is any better when feeding. Lets talk here about what you feed and if you've noticed any changes over time. I am also running a ULNS. ;)

Well first and foremost, the most important factor in this subject is that feeding or not feeding corals a marketed product depends on the chemistry of your personal tank.

So a heavily stocked sps tank with lots of fish poo and uneaten food floating around might not need to feed a thing, as long as your nutrients are in check.

You probably will need to add something to an ULNS or just feed the heck out of it.

It all depends on where your nitrates and phosphates and such are.

My tank is ran the old fashioned way. Skimmer, GFO, Refugium. I haven't had the need to carbon dose or try zeo just yet. I keep my nitrates around 5 or less and phosphates under 0.03 and I feed the corals oyster feast after lights out whenever I can. If i didn't feed them, both my nitrates and phosphates would go to 0. I've found that feeding them has helped my coloration a lot.

There's more than one way to skin a cat though. Use your test kits wisely! :)

I have a nano reef so I imagine I wont have lots of fish poo floating around ;D its a 24 gallon aquapod. Should I feed once a night?

Check your nitrates and phosphates with reliable test kits or test meters first. Then we can give you a thought out answer. Sometimes your LFS can check these for you with nicer test kits than most of us can afford.

I have fed cyclops, pe mysis and a lot of other things none of these stimulate mesenteric feeding tentacles like OYSTER FEAST. In my opinion oyster feast is one of the finest acropora foods. It does tend to increase phosphate quickly, so have some gfo around. It also increases disolved particles in your tank which may stimulate cyano bacteria. With all that said I always, for the last 2 yrs, have oyster feast in the refrig.

I just feed my fish. The more color I need in my SPS the more food for my fish I put in.
Be careful though you should have a very good skimmer to export out this nutrients. There is a balancing act of import and export nutrients to keep healthy SPSs.

Yea I ran an experiment I stopped feeding everyday and my corals went pale and skinny, I run ULN as well and there is a balancing act. I also skim during the day off at night I find if I skimm all day everything goes pale LPS go mad as well.

I feed coral smoothie. I don"t see any change in polyp extention after feeding? I also do not see any difference from not feeding at all?

I feed my SPS more often since I run biopellets and keep the water pretty clean. I feed OysterFeast, RotiFeast, and Amino Acids.

Once I got alot of acros and my bio pellet reactor was sucking my nitrates down sps didn't like it to give back I started doing 10ml per day of red sea supplement a/b, 5ml of aqua vitro every other day, 5ml of oyster for acans, and 5 ml of roti the red sea I have noticest has great PE.

Dont waste your money buying coral food. Good stable water parameters and good lighting is all you need

That is not necessarily true. If you keep your water stripped down with Zeovit or biopellets, your SPS can starve/pale/bleach without feeding. Or at best, you won't get the growth and coloration you want.
