What do you know about black fin fairy wrasse?

I'm talking the cirrhilabrus melanomarginatus. Just picked up a nice female at wholesale today. Along with 4 8line flashers.

What do you know about the black fin? I assume its similar to rest of fairies, but not much is known about temperament, size, etc.

Can't wait for it to get male colors. The rear fin looks like it'll have a nice fiery streak when transitions.
Thanks

I've read they are similar in disposition to Scott's (aggressive)? I also read they are among the largest of fairy wrasses, up to 6". Hopefully one of our resident wrasse experts will chime in. I spoted a very beautiful one and was thinking about getting it.

Yep, very much like a Scott's temperament wise. Lemon Tea Yi Ki had an article about them a year or so ago on a blog whose name cannot be mentined here, but he chronicles his experience getting a group of juveniles as they grow.

Off topic, but why can't it be mentioned here?

Not sure why but when it gets typed up it gets edited out as if I used a naughty word, even though the site is for the reef hobby. I dont think the administrators of this site and that site play nice.

The 'black fins' have recently started arriving in large numbers... Don't fall for the 'rare' classification... My LFS is selling them for ~$50 for large males

For real? Pls share the name of the LFS coz $50 is a steal.

Just got back from there...picked up 2 juvi blackfins (bigger 1 already turning male) for $50...TOTAL, NOT EACH!
They have about 10 more large males for $50 and ~25 juvis for $25 ...
The store is called Aquarium Tropical Fish (formerly Maximum Reefs) in the Bronx... The good news is that they hope to have their website up and running this month for online sales, which will be called Hot Reefs.

Is this the same fish? NYA has it at $150. I thought that was a deal.
