what does everyone have for their tank background?.......

the back of my tank is clear and i don't like it. i guess my 2 options are to paint the back black or blue or to tape the plastic background to it.

for those of you that painted it..... what type of paint?

for those of you that used the plastic background, did you tape it or is there a better way to attach it?

I did neither... I have an inwall tank and I just attached a piece of fabric along the back of the tank. It is great in my case because I have no front access so it is nice to stand behind the tank and at least see somewhat what I am doing. I just attached it with 3 little spots of super glue.

I used a peice or acrlyic that I painted black, itt is held up by the power head cords and the hob overflow.

Black plastic background just taped to the aquarium.

none, i like it better without it because the aquarium looks deeper and fishes are like flying. also, easier to clean back side. when you have background, if you have to clean algae in the back you have to remove the background.

My back is painted Black. It is now looks black and purple with all of the coralline growing.

Plastic Tablecloth - I got a big role of both blue and black. I still have some blue, if you need it. I think it is a good temporary background, but not a permanent one.

What type of paint would you use? Is it scratch resistant?

We used a piece of 1/4" acryllic/plexi from home depot. Painted it black and have it velcroed to the back for easy removal to see whats happening behind the scenes.

Velvet Elvis draped over the back. The king watches over the livestock.

any black paint will work, its not scratch resistant, but a touch up here and there is all you need.

I used black plastic and used thin coat of vasoline to attach it to take. Very easy to remove in future if need be.

Use Krylon paint its pretty scratch resistant. This stuff paints plastic without primer and does not come off. It is tuff stuff. I tried others in the past with bad results. Make sure you let the paint cure for at least 24 hours minumum.

I used some `window tint' from the Auto department at WM. 2% ... quite dark.

Was able to put it on [wet it, lay it flat, squeegee] while the tank was running ... just needed to move the cords for 10 minutes and my wife's help for 5.

While officially not 100% opaque, I sure can't see through it in the slightest - couldn't be happier with it.
Best of all, supposedly removable

thanks for all the advice/suggestions. i ended up cutting some acrylic to fit the back of the tank. then i tapped the blue background to the acrylic and put it in place. seems to have worked well.
