The big concern is mold, you can do a lot of damage if you don't deal with that. I had to tear down a system that was in a spare bedroom for that very reason.
30's at night in Winter. It's not North Dakota but it's a far cry from the tropics San Diego is a desert, basically Baja with irrigation, warm days and cold nights. Makes stabilizing temps difficult. Temp swing can easily be 40* in 24 hours.
