What doser do you use?

I'm just getting started on the SPS coral adventure so I'm doing a little homework in advance of actually needing some equipment.

I've read a ton of posts about dosers & priced quite a few. What do ya'll use?

I have an APEX so I was thinking of just using the BRS dosers (I have 2 already, 1 that works properly) but when looking into dosers there are tons of options at all kinds of price points. Is it worth the $ to spring for a DOS or GHL? Or will the BRS be fine? What about the cheaper Aquamedic or Bubble Magnus? Jebao?

Other options? I figure it is probably wise to invest in something that will last & not blow up my tank by getting stuck on or go out quickly.

thx

I use a Pac Sun Kore 5th and it works great.
Bought looking for reliability and never had an issue.

I choose DoS x 2 since it can combine Apex perfectly, and control remotely which I need that when using KHG to daily auto test Alkalinity. This is quite important when traveling.

I also add GHL x 2 because it has 4 heads instead of two per dose with reasonable footprint. It also has remote control feature but MyGHL cloud performance suck when compare to ApexFusion.

A total of 12 heads I use on my tank.

12 heads?!!! Wow!

Think I'm going to look into DOS a little more. The control alone may be worth the extra $ compared to running BRS dosers with the Apex.

Since you have the Apex already it makes sense to buy the DOS. Unfortunately, the DOS is only a 2-pump model, and that may or may not be enough dosing heads for you depending on which method you want to employ.

I use an old style grey and blue GHL Stand Alone Doser ("Doser 1"). It's great. The old model that I have is prone to losing lines of pixels in the screens, but replacement screens are only CAD$80, so that's not a big deal. I imagine they won't have them available for much longer, so I have an extra one on hand just in case. I haven't used the new style GHL, but the Wifi capabilities may be handy for some people.

I own a maintenance company, and most people don't see the value in buying German products, so most of my clients use Kamoer or Bubble Magus dosers. So far, (touch wood!) I haven't had any issues with these dosers. One draw back I've learned though is if you leave them in the "setup" screens it will not dose, AT ALL. So you have to make sure you're back in the main screen anytime you adjust anything. As long as you know this, it's not a problem.

Years ago I had an SPS tank with BRS Drew's Dosers. I still have these, and they are still in working order. They don't have controllers built in, so they need digital timers or an aquarium controller to control them. I haven't used the BRS branded ones.
