What doser do you use?

I've used the Bubble Magus doser for 5 year with zero issues. It's not the fanciest or highest tech doser out there, but it has been rock solid for me. I would definitely recommend unless you want the added convenience of tying it into your Apex.

I've been using a Kamoer for three or four years now and it's never missed a beat.

I do want to upgrade to the GHL Doser2.1 when funds allow as I want the 0.1mm dose capabilities, and it's sexy.

I read a lot on the DOS today, but as I read up on the Triton method I will need more than 2 heads (if I go that route).

The DOS seems awesome, lots you can do and seems easy to use with the Apex. But damn, $600 for 4 heads! I might be looking at the GHL 4 head or Kamoer.

I see lots on here with the bubble magnus, and love them. But reading on the forum, there are quite a few unhappy campers.

Since you have the Apex already it makes sense to buy the DOS. Unfortunately, the DOS is only a 2-pump model, and that may or may not be enough dosing heads for you depending on which method you want to employ.

I use an old style grey and blue GHL Stand Alone Doser ("Doser 1"). It's great. The old model that I have is prone to losing lines of pixels in the screens, but replacement screens are only CAD$80, so that's not a big deal. I imagine they won't have them available for much longer, so I have an extra one on hand just in case. I haven't used the new style GHL, but the Wifi capabilities may be handy for some people.

I own a maintenance company, and most people don't see the value in buying German products, so most of my clients use Kamoer or Bubble Magus dosers. So far, (touch wood!) I haven't had any issues with these dosers. One draw back I've learned though is if you leave them in the "setup" screens it will not dose, AT ALL. So you have to make sure you're back in the main screen anytime you adjust anything. As long as you know this, it's not a problem.

Years ago I had an SPS tank with BRS Drew's Dosers. I still have these, and they are still in working order. They don't have controllers built in, so they need digital timers or an aquarium controller to control them. I haven't used the BRS branded ones.

The bit highlighted in red is a very good and important point. I have a Kamoer and have fallen foul of this idiosyncrasy on a couple of occasions.
otherwise it doses well ONCE CORRECTLY CALIBRATED!

Dos! The quality and the controllability are amazing! Brs pumps work well but I go to my friends house and look at his 3, which he calibrates on his own and has marked with sharpie the output which is something like 1.0 1.5 and 1.3 ml so they are all dosing different! This bugs me! I recalibrate with a few buttons on my apex unit and then test with no issues to date! And I can tell by holding the unit that unless I drop it into the water it's gonna last a long time!

Yes...don't let it drop in the water! One of mine accidentally fell in and I fried the PCB board and both steppers. So, I ended up replacing it....they are just too easy to use.

Pricing 2 DOS is about the same as the Vertex. Anyone used both who can comment on quality? Both are more than the 4 head GHL... and I've read a lot about those & people seem to love them.

Doh.... I haven't done this with the dos but I have dropped my apex display into a fresh bucket of mixed saltwater!

What doser do you use?

I used a Bubble Magus for several years but it crapped out on me, luckily caught it in time. Got fed up and spent the money on a Vertex Stepper. Seems to be one of the most expensive of the bunch, but that was several years ago. Still running great though, but cheaper options available now.

I been using the Jebao for about 2.5 years now, with no problems. I usually recalibrate after 6 months, its not a issue with dosers. I just don't it when I clean my skimmer, sump, and return pump.

So I've seen the DOS sell for around $200 used, if I can land 2 of them thats $400 for 4 heads, but used. Found one new for $225.

Found a GHL 4 head new for $400.

I like the idea of the DOS w/my Apex, but 1 GHL unit with 4 heads is more convenient.

Can't decide....

What do you dose that you need 8 heads?

Cal/alk/mag and nopox for now. I'm switching from manual two part to FM balling lite, and depending on how it's going I may automate their coral elements program, which is four more bottles. I'd probably try it manually first though. I'd also like to automate water changes at some point which will take up two pumps also. Depending on consumption I may not need mag on a doser either, so we'll see how it goes.
