what eats hair algae????

hermit crabs, various snails. Urchins will, but are hard to manage. Lawnmower blenny, but hard to feed after algae is gone.

sea hare, emerald crabs, margarita, turbo and astrea snails. sea cucumber, long spined sea urchin just to name a few.

I can tell you I have turbo snails, a lawnmower blenny and an emerald crab, none of which has touched my hair algae. Your best solution is lots of water changes. Bring those phospates and nitrates down, you'll be good. Good luck!

Gold ring cowry, blue leg hermit crab, scarlett hermit and sally lightfoot crabs. Just do the homework and see if they're right for your tank.

My Emerald Crab eats lots of algae. I bought him to take care of my hair algae and I was supprised to see him go after the bubble also. I have only had him for a month and my tank is clean now.

Although I've never had one (getting one with next fish order) I've read that rainfordi and hector's gobys eat hair algae. They are only small fish and can only eat so much.

You should be using other practices to actively reduce algae growth like skimming, using goof RO water to top off and for water changes, and I use rowaphos for pfosphate removal.

sea hares love hair algae when its gone give the little guy some nori once in a while

^^Yep
When mine was done eating every bit of hair algae he had a tough time finding food... even in my 150. I took em back to my LFS who glady gave store credit for him. He's a FAT pig in their refugium now.:D

I often buy corals from a lfs that are in good shape, but the rocks they are mounted on are covered in hair algae. I have many Mexican Red Legs in my tank and they waste no time getting rid of the stuff. It is usually gone in two to three days.

Hi I don't know if this helps but I bought a lawnmower blenny! He did a great job eating the hair algae and never would look at any other food. After the hair algae stopped growing he did not look so good!!! But he came around and started eating flakes! Now he tries to beat the clown fish to the top to eat :)
