What eats Lobophora (Brown wafer algae).

spankey

I have read that the long black spine urchins eat this as well as the naso tang. I would add the tang but know my killer two clarki clowns will have him dead in a week as they kill every other fish I try to add. I gave up on new fish.

I have added sally light foot's but they seem to eat the fuzz on the algae but the brown base is still there so they aren't killing it.

I would do a long spine but they are so darn big. Will a smaller urchin eat this like a tuxedo?

Any suggestions.

The only thing I have heard that actually works is a blond naso tang. I also have a problem with BWA but I only have a 65 and thats way to small for a blond naso tang.

I have been battling this as well. I have tried a few long spine urchins but they only eat it if it happens to be grazing over it. Would only eat small patches or trails through it. Not very effective and as you stated, get way too big. I ended up taking out the first one because of it's size and putting in a smaller one. They grow fast. Also, I had problems with both of them eating corals. Would eat acro's, monti's and even zoa's.

Then I got a small naso. Went from this...

This was only one rock. I have it pretty bad but the naso managed to get at almost all of it. It is not completely gone but as long as the naso is in there, it will not be spreading. I know it will eventually outgrow the tank. My plan is to swap him out for another small one when the time comes.

I could try that butg I would have to get my yellow tang out. How could I catch him without removing all the LR?
