What encourages zoos to spread?

I have beatiful pink zoo's I bought for my daughter. They have always been full and heathy, but I have them wedged in creating and overhang. They completely cover the rock they're on. Should I move them where I can put rocks surrounding them so they will spead on them or will they either "jump" or "drip" off of the over hang rock? I will post a pic if I can. Also I hear they like "dirty" water. How do I help with that requirement?

If they have a nearby rock or surface to attach themselves they will spread faster.

I don't know if this is true for others, but I noticed that the zoas that I place in an area that has moe flow, grow faster than others in areas that get less flow.

Thanks for all the posts so far! What does anyone think about if I should move them to be level and next to other rocks. Will that make it more likely to spread?

I have always found that areas that have good flow seem to make them spread faster.
I feed a lot, too.
