Hey guys, anyone knows what exactly is seachem purigen? Iv seen similar stuff made by a water treatment company called lanxess. They also make something called levatit fo 33 which is gfo on steroids. Is it similar to phosbond?

About chemiepure, many have opened the bag and have seen mixture of carbon gfo and purigen (mostly) what type of gfo and carbon works for so long? can we make something similar?

As my famiy business is chemicals/pharmaceuticals, some thing like phosguard is sold as activated aluminia (aluminium oxide)

I'm not sure about the actual composition of the material, but its sorta like a chemical version of a protein skimmer (Resin that bonds to organic waste.)

Phosguard absorbs phosphate faster than GFO. But gfo will absorb a larger quantity of phosphate per cup than phosguard. Info is from Seachem.

i just used phosguard for first time, used 1/2 recommended dosage. took reading of .17 with hanna checker to 0.0 within 6 days. just placed in a media bag in a decent flow area of tank.

Im using salifert, and its still showin between 1 & 2. Shud i change media? I too used half.

1 and 2 is a number that needs quantifying. My .17 was part per million. From my Hanna checker. The way I understand this stuff is it absorbs phosphates and once its full it's done. So if you 4.25 ppm and you used the phosgaurd you wait 4-6 days and test again. If you now have 1.5 ppm I would runs new batch. Test after 4-6. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Only used this stuff once.
