what filter media should i use for a 24g aquapod?

hi im in the process of setting up a 24g aquapod. what filter media should i use should i just use chemi pure carbon? i heard that the sponges and bio balls will become a nitrate factory. im gonna have 22 pounds of LR for bio filtration. so would using just chemi pure be fine?

live rock no media it will cause nitrate build up
and have it loosely stacked with a high flow rate in the tank 10 to 15 times the tank volume should do per hour some have more!!
