What happened to my clam?

In the matter of 2-3 days, I noticed that my clam looked as if it was seperating on one end of the shell. Then on the third day the mantel was pulled into the bottom of the shell. What cuases this? TIA Tim

lighting, species, other tank inhabitants, test results, how long you've had the clam ect...

Well I woke up this morning and my only other clam is half to doing the same thing.

This is in a 210G 6'x30Tx24W Tank

For fish I have the following. Yellow Tang, Scopus Tang, Lawnmower bleny, Orange spot gobie, purple firefish, 10 blue-green chromis, yellow corris wrasse, six line wrasse and 1 red soldier fish.

Clean up crew consits of misc snails, Brittle star and black sea cucumber.

Lighting is 4 -80W T-5 VHO Attnics then I Have 2- 175 MH ushio 10K on each end and one 400W MH in the center.

This is a mixed reef that is mainly SPS. I do have mixture of softies and zoo's along with my SPS & LPS. I run carbon 24-7 and Phosgard for PO4 in a TLF. I run about 40 times turn over and 75 galln sump that hold live rock and cheato light on oppiste of daytime lights.

I use randys 2 Part to buffer and RC for salt, RO Water and 25 every 3 weeks.
