It seems to me that all that I hear about our LFS's around here is Aquatic Reef this, Aquatic reef that, Aquatic reef this. Doesn't anyone go to Oceans floor any more? I remember not to long ago that all I heard was about Oceans floor. Are Noel and Sherwin paying more for advertising here on RC? I myself still go to Oceans floor and have received nothing but the best customer service and respectable pricing.

So, what's up?!?! Is there no longer any love for Dave? I am starting to feel like the lone reefer going over there.

Well, most of the posts are started by Kimoy, and I'm guessing he doesn't get out to OF very often. Maybe you should become the OF poster boy? When you stop in, put out a post and tell us what good stuff they have. It's the drive that keeps me from going out there. If there's a good sale, it might be worth a trip.
 
Summer time.... Everything slows down in the trade. Everything but kimoy, so you notice AR more. Maybe you could be the schiller for OF?
Once craftytony is back, you'll hear about Rod more and if lovereefs starts posting again, Schor's name will be dropped more than once. ;)

Why didn't I see a post like this when everyone was sucking OF nipples and no one elses?? :D

Maybe AR is just putting up some nice sales and people enjoy it. Who knows.
 
First of all, I am nobody's poster child! I lead and do not follow! I was just curious why one store is getting all of the love and not any of the others.
 
oh because they do crazy sales, on the cmas open house at AR they had $5.00 Frags that no other LFS can do.
 
my guess is because AR has weekly sales and great prices. smart plan being the slow season.

they specialize in frags so a larger market can afford what they sell. plus they give great deals and feebies which keep people coming back for me.

i dont get out there much being in the city, but they are my favorite LFS.

If you think about it if any LFS has a sale we are talking about it on here. Not to many places have been having sales lately though around here, except for AR. So maybe if other stores had more sales than their name would get thrown around more. Just because one out of 13 threads on here are about AR doesn't mean its the only store getting any business. I still frequent Sho Tank, Sea Schor and Sharky's. Even though they may not be having sales they still have customer aprreciation and give discounts to certain people that are returning customers sale or not.

Actually jjjimmy, you have given them even more free advertising since you started this thread :)
They have the best sales on some of the nicest items an a regular basis.
The prices are more then resonable and they carry drygoods at very reasonable prices which is rare in this area.
The health of the fish and corals make it worthwhile to make a long trip for us city-folks as well.
 
Between aquatic reef and Dark Lord corals i dont feel like going anywhere else. The guys at ar have been very smart to have sales weekly, sometimes more often. I think there is something to be said about a store when city people dont mind driving up to an hour to get out there. The only other 2 places i do want to visit but havent would be rods and shotank. I will be posting about Dark Lord coral as soon as i stop by there and get new frags. People post when they get good customer service and great deals so that others may take advantage. Yes the store gets free advertising but we win in the end because everyone gets good prices.
 
I agree that we are winding down on summer and reefing will start stronger again real soon. I have been too busy with work and travels and have not made it up to OF for about 2 months ... which is rare for me! My SPS collection is starting to grow so I need to head up soon and visit with Dave!
 
I still go to OF. AR sales price on Rod's Food is regular price at OF. But maybe I am wrong, I felt OF has much more SPS selection than AR.

My brother took me to OF a few weeks ago on our day off from work... I thought they have a great collection of frags being sold... it was just too bad that I didn't have much money to spend... still a nice store, though.
 
Well, I was at DLC about 2 weeks ago and got a great price on a couple of Duncan heads, nice green color. I also picked up a couple of polyps of some high end zoas that are doing well. The nice thing about DLC is that if you can't afford the whole piece, they will frag on the spot. Sharky's does that also.
When I was at DLC they had a new frag tank they were setting up in order to do more frags at better prices. I am looking forward to that.
OF is nice...I have been there but it is a heck of a haul. Thank heavens for DLC cause we have very few decent LFS left in the area. Odd lot is nice, but kind of touch and go....never know what you'll find...sometimes treasure...sometimes trash.
Of course, then we are lucky enough to have people like Andrea and Dennis set up a frag swap...now that was sweet. Some primo pieces, superman montis, colonies, frags and I was able to see a sunset monti in person for the first time...all I can say is WOW!!! It would be great to be able to have a "roaming swap meet" where we meet in a different area every other month.

and Oddlott is the worst!! if you like the color brown for your corals shop there.
