What happens if Anemones don't have proper lighting?

They get bleached and then die. You can prolong their life a bit by direct feeding something like Mysis or even small pieces of regular raw shrimp but in the end they need the quality lighting or they perish.
 
yes, most of the anemones you're gonna run into are photo synthetic. the ones that don't require HD lighting require a chiller.

Not always. There are some anemones in the tropics that are not photosynthetic. And there are some that are, but come from deeper water and they have zooxanthellae that are not as well suited to do photosynthesis and therefore need supplemental feedings as well. I have some deep water rock flower anemones that just can't survive on photosynthesis and what they pick out of the water on their own. I spot feed them something small a couple of times a week and they do MUCH better.
