What have you done with your tank lately?

Picked this guy up from Gateway yesterday. They had had him a few months and hes a nice contrast to the other fish in the tank. Seems like its got a great personality as well.

I had been eyeing that fish at gateway but didn't want to get a fish that might kill my inverts, esp my fire and cleaner shrimp monsters.

Pretty sure I have red bugs. I'm seeing little red dots moving around on the base of some of my plugs. I don't think I have anything they eat though, I had one random monti die from the swap last month, they could have killed it. But nothing else seems effected. They are gonna starve woot woot! I dipped everything in Rx, and removed as many plugs as I could. the monti that died was crusted to its plug so they might have gotten in on it.

My tank is doing great though, freaking life everywhere. All the montis have taken off and the acans, holy-chit they are growing like weeds.

Red bugs really aren't red. They have a yellowish body woth a ted head

This is the best pic I could get from my red bug outbreak last summer

A dragon face pipefish (if you have a mild flow tank) will help with the bugs

I replaced my MP10's with fluva power-heads that were recommended by a friend. I have to say they are doing a great job, the flow is incredible, they put out this giant gentle wave with no real harsh spots, my fish now play in the flow like crazy and the softies have really opened up. I do think its a bit much for a pipe fish though.

I found the bugs I have and they are considered red bugs also, my lights make them look light redish brown when against the frag plugs. I dosed worm killer then vacuumed out my sand and replaced most of it. transferred live stock to my frag tank (also infected) and dipped them as I added them back into the DT removing and replacing plugs. I then took down the frag tank, scrubbed it with vinegar and have it drying out. A yellow wrasse is in the mail for the DT also. I hope I beat them back enough that the wrasse can keep them in check, well I can hope.

besides that, all is great lol.

Best thing you could spend money on for your tank. I just got the Neptune Wav pumps. After you get used to the Apex you will only want to buy things that directly work with it.

What kind of PHs are you replacing? I have an XR15 on a reeflink. Don't think I'm going to set them up with the Apex, was looking for a set of MP10s to go with them...

I got a reeflink few weeks back as well. Just monitoring PH and controlling temp atm, but looking into getting a wxm and vectra in the near future.

I replaced my old PH probe with the BRS lab grade probe. It calibrated to the solution within .09. Is that good? I tested my old one and it was 2.43 off so I'm figuring its at least better.
I'm going to start mixing ash in my ATO tonight after I read the PH swing once the lights go out.
I'm also getting really strange temp readings. The meters probe says 79, a basic floating one says 76 and a little battery one I picked up says its 82, all of them are in the same area. I'm ordering a controller for myself for xmas and am wondering what's the best way to handle temp? is there a standard, number one, go to probe I can trust?

As always, thanks
Tom
My Tanks doing well but my contest acro took a bit of a fall into the sand and is healing slowly.

Ph always drops when dt lights go off unless you have like a fuge light com on to counter the dt lights. Dont chase the Ph numbers, just my 2 cents
