Hi there, I recently bought a watermelon mushroom colony, on a good sized rock, about 3-4 inch rock that is. Well the rock within a few days had developed a crack along the top from right to left, and now today it seems as if it wasnt a crack at all, but the top of a shell, and inside, there is a creature... A clam, or oyster I think, he looks just like a rock, but then you look at the front and there he is, open, looking like a scallop, with no tentacles. Beige in color, with a 1" pearl inside! (just kidding) No really though, I would really like to know what he is, he is odd shaped, the part of the opening is the only thing on him that resembles anything but a rock, and even that part is wavy, not maxima wavy, but uneven, rough, and oyster like.. Any ideas? I will try and take a pic but I dont think the picture would do any good, you wouldnt be able to see much, I dont have an slr camera unfortunately... Thank you all!

Probably just a small mussel or oyster...they frequently arrived attached to LR. Hard to tell what kind it really is...

Well he IS the rock he is like 3-4 inches wide. He has mushrooms attached to him, along with tiny little stars and feather dusters. Which is why I thought it was a rock but the thing opened... I will take pics today... Thank you! Tanya
