what is 9005.400 ?

what is this kit for what is different when using the 9005 in sump vs in tank?

Do the other models 9010 requires this?

All the skimmers except 9005 include this kit. The 9005 was largely built for in tank use, the cup is very short so it will fit under a canopy. The sump kit includes the stand pipe and a few other parts so it can work in lower sump water levels and work with fluctuations in water level.

I see, .. so the 9010 is more "value added"
aftering paying $50 for the kit and the 9005 ($285+$50) it is approaching the price of 9010 ($366).. might as well get the next model up here..

Exactly, the main reason to get a 9005 is if you know it will be an in tank skimmer.

How are the bubbles controlled on the outlet on these skimmers.. does it use foam that trap bubbles (and get dirty)?

Also curious about noise level.. I heard people say the nano version is silent, what about these?

They are all virtually silent. The foam traps most of the bubbles, it does collect some dirt but it is easy to rinse.
