What is a good LFS?

My wife and I will be visiting indy oct 10-12 (next weekend) for our babymoon (a chance to spoil yourself before you have your first baby :bum: ). We plan on visiting the zoo and checking out the dolphins on saturday. On sunday I was planning on stopping at premium aquatics, but they are unfortunately closed.

Sooo... what are other good LFS's to check out?

I'm looking for a few good pieces of LR for our baby tank (biocube 8). A coral or two and if a fish were to tempt me well I might have to give in  :p.

Recommendations?

well the LFS around here are slime pickins, you have uncle bills which is over priced, and....a few others not worth mentioning(the reef). i would hit up a few local hobbist...i go to ian.. coralfarm123@gmail.com amazing frags..alot of sps and zoas, also scott who has the downgrade post has alot of good stuff as well. ive heard katrina has good stuff but just havnt talk to her. id def give ian and scott a message.

Thats unfortunate about the LFS's. Are there any good ones in the local area? Does uncle bills have anything that reasonably priced or will it feel like pulling teeth just to get a frag? I might talk to a few people and see if they have anything of interest. Its not a huge deal, but I figured if I was in the area I would check some new places out. Thanks for the pointers!

We actually live very close to carle and lil porgys has awesome prices for bbq. Its ridiculous how cheap a rack of ribs is there. I still don't think it compares anything to famous daves though. The best bbq I've ever had.

they are actually opening a famous daves here...never had it but want to try...the uncle bills on the north side has some ok stuff...southside UB just remodel so their stock is low. if you were coming that saturday, it would be a better bet because premium is opened and then they are having a member auction outside when they close at 3....idk id say your best bet is uncle bills north tho since they are stocked.

Definitely try famous daves. If you liked lil porgy's famous daves will blow you away (they are more expensive though). When you sit down and you see that each table has a roll of paper towels you know you are about to get into some excellent food.

I will have to see about premium. Our plan is to visit the zoo, but since my wife is pregnant she might get tired early and if thats the case I might let her take a nap at the hotel and head over to premium. What is a member auction? For INDMAS? Can non-members bid? I suppose having frags sit in my hotel room for a day won't hurt them too much if I do go saturday. I'll just request that they bag them with extra water for temp stability.

As for UB I'll look them up and make sure to go on the north side if I do visit them.

I would advise going to The Reef, I've only been there once, seemed OK, they have a huge reef tank in the front (200gal +) and the rest is pet store style, alot of different stuff though, prob almost the same amount as PA, check to see if they are open on Sunday though

Hi There:
Premium Aquatics will be open to the public 12-3 on Sat. the 11th. They hathe best selection for rock by gar and also the best prices. We are having an INDMAS club meeting at 3:00PM at Premium. it is going to be an auction of things people want to sell. Maybe you oculd show up at Premium before they close then hang out for our club meeting. It might be fun for you. Take care, Mike

The auction is sponsored by INDMAS, but being held at Premium Aquatics. It is open to all who are interested and there is no fee for attending or bidding.

If you are intersted in selling items at the auction, it is free for INDMAS members and $5 for non-members. No limit on the number of items to sell.

If you want to sell anything at the auction, contact btuck via PM, either here on RC or on INDMAS.org

Thanks!

Thanks everyone!

I am very interested in the frag auction. So I am going to try to get to PA and the frag auction on Saturday, but obviously there are no guarantees. I don't plan on selling frags, but appreciate the offer to do so. $5 is a great deal for non-members so I applaud your club for such a reasonable offer.

In terms of who I should get it contact with: I appreciate everyones recommendations. I will try to get in touch with these people and see what they have. I'm very happy to see the response I got. You guys (and girls) are great and you should be proud of your club.
