What is cheato, and why?

Chaeto is a macro algae that is really good at taking nitrates out of your water and using it to grow. So as it out grows the area it is in and you remove some you remove the nitrates as well. It is also a good place for small critters like pods to grow. It looks and feels like a green brillo pad.

Could I put some in my second BC chamber? I have the heater in there now, but the heater could move to the third smaller chamber.

OOOO a nano mod question. Yes you can but you have to have light back there for it to grow. Typically people remove the black backing and shine a light through. In your case I would remove the false bottom in chamber 2 and put LR rubble and chaeto in there, moving the heater to chamber 1. This is the place to go for all mods nano. Really good info there.
