What is growing in my sand?

i have these, too. have had them for months and months. very curious to get an i.d.!

Then pull one out of the sand and look inside. Maybe set it on something and take a pic to post so we can see it.

you promise there isn't a clown at the other end? clowns scare the beejeezus outta me!

gonna do a water change, probably tomorrow, i'll do as you ask and get a picture. but if there's a clown in there, i'mma gonna hunt you down!

Nina, I promise, if there is a clown at the other end I'll come over and shoot it myself! Unless it's only a clown fish! :bounce3::bounce2::bounce1:

sorry, no pics yet. my avatar dog got very ill right before the 4th of july and died from sudden heart issues. i've been pretty discombobulated ever since and have not yet done my w/c. hopefully, sometime this week i will be able to get that done and get pics.

thank you. he was my latest rescue, just a baby at 3.5 years. only had him 7 months. :(

My sincere condolences. Having a pet pass can be awful. I got a Siamese kitten after my divorce and over the years he became a real companion. At 7 years he even turned my now new wife into a cat lover. He passed at 18 years and even my wife who used to hate cates was broken hearted. That unconditional love of a pet is something special.

thank you. i rescued him knowing he wouldn't live for years and years. his conformation was horrible and arthritis in his later years was a given. but still, heart issues that came out of nowhere just sent me reeling. he was a typical goofy dane boy, made me laugh every day, many times. he would greet people with a big sloppy kiss and as soon as they sat down, he would sit in their lap, all 150# of him. :)

The only pet I ever had was fish :/

sometimes i think i should just stick with fish but another dane in need always finds me. right now, there is one in st. louis being kept in a crate in an abandoned warehouse in this unbearable heat. he is only let out once a day. i'm trying to get him out of that situation asap.

thought i'd get a water change done today but ended up with a flat tire on my tractor. guy called and said he was coming today so i don't wanna start on the tank and have to stop in the middle. murphy's law around here lately!!!
:headwally:

The op has what I believe are Chaetopterid/Spionid. They are safe but their numbers can become rather ugly.
Sorry about your loss Nina. You might want to check under your bed for clowns, they are rather sneaky.lol

They look like a type of local tube worm we get here and it looks like that layer of sand on top came out of your local water it appears to be sand primarily composed of quarts if you took it from your local waters they may have been in the sand

got my sump cleaned today. :bounce3: have to do a dane transport up to the rescue so i'll be on the road tomorrow. w/c will happen sunday, come hell or high water! will get pics then. :)

ok, i did a big water change today. i scooped some of the sand out with the little things "growing". i could not tell anything about them. none had any sort of worm in it, at least not that i could see. they more or less just crumbled in my fingers when i tried to pick them up. nothing really to even take a picture of.

no clowns. :D
