Anyone have any idea whats going on here? Is this a spawn, or an injury to the foot or something else? This guy was fully expanded this morning, he is about 14-16" fully expanded. a little while ago he flipped himself upside down and I noticed this

Your saying he moved since this morning? if not anemones normally shrivel up when they exchange water out of there body.

Pis is tiny. I can barely see it

Click on it -- it will be bigger.

To the OP;

How long have you had it?
How long has your tank been set up?
Parameters -- with numbers please.

The filaments coming out is either from stress, an injury or some unknown cause. IME, it is a very bad sign. Hopefully this won't be the case for you.

i've only had it about two weeks. it was eating like a champ (pe mysis), and fully expanded until today. It has done a couple of "water changes" but nothing out of the ordinary IME. I am guessing this is an injury because when i recieved it I closely inspected the foot and there were no signs of tears or injuries. It has stayed in the same spot the entire time so this is not the dreaded wandering nem in the power head situation.

Params are as follows

sg=1.025
mag=1250
cal=410
alk=7-8dkh
i don't check nitrates anymore as my water change regimen kept them around 0 for a year or so I stopped testing....I run GFO in a reactor to keep my phos around 0. I get very little algae growth.
My water is good enough to grow sps corals with success.

My livestock includes yellow tang, GB maroon pair, coral beuaty, orangespot goby, bluejaw trigger, cuc consisting of various snails, hermits, and micro brittles. None of my livestock has ever bothered my BTAs that I have had for over a year, and they are no where near this injured specimen which i believe to be a LTA.

yes it is a LTA and i am sorry to tell you this but it is on its way out, I have seen this happen to several that I had in the past and it never goes good. I like to reffer to the problem as HITFD, Hole in the foot diesase. You will start to see some gray matter coming from that area which is his innards, he will continue to get worse til he starts to melt. I have never found a reason as to why this happen but it seems that once a tank has a nem introduced with this, that any LTA introduce after this will have the same out come I am sorry for your loss.

Probably dead, and if not, well on its way to being so...

That is an M. doreensis, and when they turn upside down like that there isn't much you can do. Pull him up and smell him - there's a good chance he's starting to rot. I hate to be bearer of bad news...
