What is it??

In these photos you see a red algae like substance on the substrate. Almost looks like coralline, but from my understanding, it shouldn't be on the substrate. Also, and this is the main question. what is this dangling, white, hairy algae hanging off the rocks?? It is appearing on most of my LR but this rock if furthest along. Worried about hair algae, but after googling a bit it didn't sound like it should be white in colour. It is soft and waves in the current. Any help is appreciated, here are the tank readings
Cal-385
Alk-9.3
Mg-1390
Ph-8.0
Nitrate-10
Phos-0
Ammonia-0

How long has your tank been set up?

The red stuff looks like a bit of cyanobacteria. It's a bloom and may go away on it's own in a few weeks (if your tank is new). Or you may have to take some action, there are lots of threads here about how to do that.

The white hairy stuff looks like dead hairy algae to me.

Was there a question related to the last pic? That looks like Kenya Tree coral. Easy... too easy to grow. Most reefers end up considering it as the 'crabgrass' of the reef.

No its not.. (assuming they are talking about the white branchy growth) I've had that in my sump before.. Just haven't looked it up yet..
It will grow all over the place in darker areas..

third pic looks like anthelia to me. you could also raise your calcium a bit.
Or take that damn weed out.. it WILL overtake your tank in time..
NO ONE should ever have that stuff.. Leave it in the ocean..
Its HORRIBLE.. You can't isolate it to a rock.. It will float around and spread everywhere..

Take it out and just throw it in the trash..

First pic might be a blue star polyp , look for small blueish star polyps forming in this pink mass. not sure on second and last is xenya. Xenya is not liked by some who see it as a weed that can grow very fast in tank. If you see polyps in pink mass on first pic look up blue star polyp and see if you would like that growing on bottom of tank, I for one, like the way it looks.

Thanks guys, last pic wasn't a question it just showed a bit more of the red growth on the substrate. Ron- the tank has been up for 1-2 months, it has been cycled for about 2-3 weeks

Congrats on the new set up. Just be aware that cycling the tank is just the beginning. After that and until your tank is 'mature' at 6 to 12 months, you'll probably have an algae bloom or two and maybe a bacteria bloom as well. Most tanks cycle through these phases. Work on keeping up with maintenence and be patient.
