This dude is in one of my Zoa rocks.

Anyone know what it is?

I think this is a Aeolid Nudibranch and it is out of there. I'll be keeping an eye out for any more.

i had what you have in the first pic. the one with the thin rainbow colored thingys. its harmless.

I've had some of both of those things. I don't know what the first one is, but it seems harmless. It came on a Christmas tree worm rock.

I won the war with that nudibranch by FW dipping the zoanthid frags, buying a neon wrasse and treating the tank with Flatworm eXit. You almost definetely have more. I'd start pulling some frags out now and looking for eggs and FW dipping to see if any nudibranchs fall off.

In the first picture you're seeing the anterior bristles of a polychaete worm in the family Flabelligeridae. They feed by spreading strands of mucus over the bristles which catches particles in the water. They then use their feeding tentacles to carry the particles to the mouth.

OK so I did the dip on my 2 big Zoa rocks, and nothing like the critter in the photo fell off. I have a few other frags, but they are glued to the rock work. I got the one in the photo out, and I am keeping an eye out for others. Under one of the Zoa rocks I saw what looked kind of like translucent shedding derbies from a small shrimp. However they are stuck to the rock, they were about 5mm long and about 1.5mm across. They look like tinny castings left over from a caterpillar after it metamorphosed into a butterfly. I'll post a photo tonight

Can you point me to moare information on the polychaete worm? I like to understnad as much as I can about every critter in my tank.

Also what do you think this one is?
