What is on my SPS

So you can see a white filament on the lower left branch of one of my SPS, what is it? It seems to retract and elongate.

looks like a piece of cleaner shrimp molt to me. It actually goes away and returns in the exact same spot?

Yes it does Sean. And the area that it is looks like the is some tissue eaten away.

Not a mucous net. Not a vermatid. I have seen similar things in my tanks as well. Mostly visible at night and before lights come on for me. Some sort of long, slender, retractable, mostly translucent, likely debris catching invertebrate. I haven't noticed any damage from where they emerge but mine have been attached to rocks, not coral.

I have something similar. Try googling "digitate hydroid". Might be what it is. I started with one and then they spread to a couple dozen but never seemed to harm anything. I even had one moving around the tank attached to a hermit crab shell.

I have some digitate and another sps specific hydroids but this pic just doesn't look like either. This looks smooth and pointy almost whereas the hydroids are rarely in a straight position like this.

I agree with Sean, I have hydroids in my refugium and they look more clear in color and a little more textured. This is white solid and as of today not on said SPS anymore, looks like it's mobile and has moved on. Strange though because I've never seen anything like that in my tank and my tank has been setup for over a year with no new additions lately.
