What is the best way to test for Salinity?

I checked out Reef Exotics (Acropora.net) Wow what a website.
That is one amazing display tank.

They were about to go on my favorites until I checked out the return policy.
http://www.reefexotics.com/returns.htm

I dont feel comfortable with a restocking fee, all sales final!

"****There is a 20% restocking fee on all returns."

Who else sells these refractometers?

ok wow, thank you all for your input.....for those of you that have spent the money, or wish you had, how do you feel about the refractometers that do vs. do not require a screwdriver to calibrate?

Im pretty sure if your local and Tony doesnt ship you can return a product without the restocking fee. I think he gives LIRA members a 10% discount.

But if it(any product) goes bad they make you go through the manufacturer and pay shipping both ways?I have never seen such a policy? Any good dealer stands behind their product at least one year.
This policy leaves the dealer in complete control, should'nt this be the
other way around?

If they give you a 10% discount on top of these online prices thats great, but the return policy is scary!!

Tony has ALWAYS done the right thing be me...

He has been selling the refractometer at our meetings for as long as I have been a club member.

Reef bini atleast go correct the place you live its spelled CorAm not CorUm........... Tony has always done right by everyone. I gave him a ring and left him a message to pop into this thread when he gets a chance.

From my interpretation it seems to apply to items that were shipped. Ofcoarse 12 people can read it and get 12 diferent conclusions. Ive never known Tony to not do the right thing.

Well if thats where your from then you got me. Im playing into your interest of busting chops.

Corum is actually in Turkey

Maybe so, but that is not where you're posting from ;)

ok--just to get you back on track--I saw somewhere a refractometer that does not need a screwdriver fo calibration. does anyone have this and are they worth it?

how many times do you need to recalibrate with the screwdriver anyway?

Thank you for posting our return policy, which has since been updated. We originally modeled our return policy from the return policies of our competitor's websites. The main difference is that our policy is up front with a link on our Home Page. We have never charged one single customer a restocking fee and that policy statement has been removed. In fact others here can attest that we have also helped with returns of products that have not originally been purchased from us. Please check the vendor feedback forum for feed back for Reef Exotics.
In some cases we request that defective merchandise be sent back directly to the manufacturer to expedite repair or replacement. Repairs and replacements are sent back from the manufacturer with free shipping.
We will match or beat all online prices and items can be picked up or delivered to the L.I.R.A. meetings to save on shipping. Please call for further discounts available.

Thank You
Anthony Conciald

A refractometer can be easily be recalibrated by adjusting the calibration screw with the screw driver supplied. I have done this at the 6 month and one year mark and found that the unit was still on mark when measured against a pure water sample. Your mileage may vary, but refractometers are easy to use and very reliable.
