Cleaner shrimp went into my BTA and pulled some long dark stringy thing out of the anemone's mouth. Does anyone know what this would be and is is natural for a cleaner shrimp to do this? I just got the BTA last Thursday. It's about 3". The LFS sold me krill to feed it, but I don't see nayone on this forum feeding their's krill. Did he tell me wrong? And how much do I fed it at one time?

Krill is a fine choice to feed an anem...personally I like mysis and just about any SW invert you can find at a grocery store. Add selcon and garlic for color and immune boosting along with high fatty acids and proteins.
It is normal for a cleaner shrimp to eat off of the anem, just make sure it is not harming it. My cleaner waits on top of my RBTA for me to feed it. They are natural theives...

I really prefer silverslides, but krill will work for now. a girl here had alot of issues with her nem when she switched from silverslides to krill.
next time your out grab some silverslides, cut a lil chunk off (about the size of a pencil eraser) defrost it in tank water with some selcon if you have it and feed the nem, if it does well with that size try a lil bigger piece.
I feed every third day.

so this might be a stupid question but is that what i need to ask for at the LPS is silverslides and selcon? What exactly is this? I have a baby RBTA and 2 baby BTA. The rose is almost the size of a quarter (was the size of a pencil eraser when we got it), and the other 2 are still the size of a pencil eraser. These were all hitchhikers that were attached to rock that we bought from another member. I normally feed the rose plankton or whatever else I am feeding my fish with (always frozen food) and the 2 baby's get phytoplankton. They are always target fed and have always ate fine. I really want to get my rose growing better/faster though, and I am sure my clowns would be happy too.

until you get a better answer, i feed mine mysis and other small frozen stuff just cause thats what everyone else gets. he loves mysis. its fun watching him use 40 tentacles to grab 40 pieces of shrimp, and everyone else stands there (floats there?) with these stupid looks like 'he at it all?!'
