What is the difference between Gyres?

Looking at getting a Maxspect Gyre for my system as my two MP40s just aren't cutting it due to my excessive rock work.

What is the difference between the XF250, 260 & 280?

Also they are listed as pump only. Do you need more to have these working straight out of the box?

It's actually 230, 250, and 280. The difference is the pump size and tank tank size rating (230 smallest, 280 largest.) The newer 200 series gyres can control 2 gyre pumps from one controller unlike the 100 series. The pump only listing is if you just need an extra pump and don't need the controller.

I'm also considering the different sizes.

Was set on the 250 for a 150 gal, but thinking again, the 280 at 50% will have wider flow and be more efficient/quieter than a 250 at let's say 85%.

I have 2 x 250's in my 120DT, one on either side of the center overflow. At 50% they shoot water over the the front of the tank. I have them set to 20% and they produce way more flow in the tank than 4 x 1500gph koralias ever did.

How's the noise at 50%? Have you tried running them perpendicular to the task at same 50% how does that do flow wise?
