What is the Difference???

The ES skimmers are essentially a more affordable yet still functional alternative to the higher end CS skimmers. Most people with tanks smaller than 50-75 gallons are not looking for a skimmer that is $300+. At the same time, many customers with these size tanks are not 100% happy with their Berlins or Turboflotors despite these skimmer being an excellent value because of their cheap price.

The ES Series was designed to fill this gap. Precision Marine addresses this need with the lower end Bullet-1, and AquaC does it with the Remora Pro, Urchin Pro, and the mid end EV120.

I"ve been very curious about that as well. The CS are made of a different kind of acrylic, extruded I believe they said and the ES are made of Cast acrylic. Correct me if I have this mixed up. They said that the ES will take out stuff just as well as the CS that they will work just as well as each other, and that there is no difference in how they work, etc. I guess I want to know if one stronger then the other. is one more likely to break or leak, etc. Do you know?

ausnakeguy1... that is correct. The ES-series is made of extruded acrylic (a cheaper material), while the CS-series (the ones we sell) are made of cell-cast acrylic. There will not be a difference in performance (to the best of my knowledge), but the cast acrylic is more dense, more clear and more durable.

The ES-Series (other than the 5-series) can only be purchased though your LFS and cannot be sold by on-line vendors. Taking into consideration of the mark-ups, the price will probably be just about the same between buying the ES-Series locally and buying the CS-Series though an on-line vendor (such as MarineDepot :D ). The advantage of the latter is that you get a skimmer made with better materials;)

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

Hi Joseph,
thanks for letting me know I was right, although there was one thing that I have to disagree with with what you said. It was about the ES series not being available online. www.H20Tropicals.com carries the ES and the CS series, even the ES that is higher than 5. THey also carry Factory Seconds /Refurbished models.

Just out of curiosity, where is MarineDepot located, as in what state and city? thanks

Hum... that's odd. I assume that they have some sort of deal worked out with EuroReef to sell those skimmers. We actually tried to purhase the larger ES skimmers when they were first available, but were informed by EuroReef that we couldn't.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Joseph
