Right now I'm using a QuiteOne 3000. It's pretty much silent all you can here is a very slight hum from the motor. And it's been running for two year's with out any problems. But I just recently bought a Velocity T3 www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=CP7115 To replace it. I am told it's the quietest pump you can get but it will add a little more heat to you'r tank.

wow the velocity takes up quite a power load but thank you for your comment I will look into the quiet one pumps

You might want to look at the Eheim 1262. It is probably the quietest pump in that range, but it comes with a price tag. Sounds (no pun intended) like you need an ultra quiet pump.

I was in a similar situation as you once...buy an eheim. 1250=315gph, 1260=600gph, and 1262=900gph. They are so silent that you can sleep with your ear on the pump housing and hear nothing but the swoosh of water going through it. I had to have one next to my bed for a while...worked like a dream. I am fully confident in saying that eheims are the quietest, most reliable pumps made. They are worth every penny.

i would say eheim makes the quiestest submersible pumps, followed by sedra then quiet ones...ime.

if your pump doesnt turn back on, take it apart and give it a good vinegar soak for a day or two. of course, rinse and brush it clean, put it back together and most of the time you will have a pump running practically brand new.

if this works, i am accepting 'donations' for passing on these "pearls of wisdom" (my next lecture topic actually!:D)

paypal address on request! ;)
