What is this... Apstasia?

Well, just picked up some zoos from a LFS two days ago ... This was the first time I went there ...

I noticed several in the middle didn't open so I thought I'd give it a couple days.

Finally noticed this sticking out in the middle of the closed zoos.... is it Apstasia?

Ugh... great...

Thanks all... guess I won't buy anything from that LFS anymore. All their stuff is in big cement tubs... so most likely all their stuff will have it on there.

Time to read up on how to rid them.

Again.. thanks all.

I had a constant war with Aptasia going using Joe's Juice for about 2 months. It seemed that every time I killed 4-5, 4-5 more would pop up (I hunted about 2x/week). Finally I bought a few peppermint shrimp and haven't found an aptasia in the display in the last 4 months. They are everywhere in the sump, so I know they are still in the system, but the shrimp are keeping them completely out of the display tank. I would Joe's Juice the big ones though. I don't know that the peps eat big ones.

ive never had them eat the big ones but they love eating the small ones that pop up i inject lemon juice in the big ones kills them quickly

boiling hot water in a syringe worked well for me, but then again most people don't have needles laying around at home. well they shouldnt anyways. fyi, I work in a hospital, not an addict lol

Sure you're not an addict for cookies?? :p

Well, I just wanted to give an update.

So far that was the only Aiptasia polyp that I saw. I used the needle (my wife is a nurse so she brought it home for me) and lemon juice trick. Squirted the polyp and it closed instantly... along with the zoos around it.

I'm happy to say I haven't seen the ap. polyp anymore and all the zoos are fully opened.

Thanks all for the help... hopefully I won't see an outbreak :P

Awesome!! I've found as long as you keep a watchful eye on the small ones and take care of em right away, you won't have a big issue.
