what is this in seashell

my daughter bought this home from the beach today and was sitting on my table a shell all of suden a long arm come out i jumped up like what the heck..it looks to have 2 eyes and a mouth what is it??

yeah im driving 2 hour just to put it in ocean lol,has 2 long eyes mouth and long arms,been out the water for 8 hours still living put it in my tank see if he comes out of the shell
 
Didn't realize you were that far away.

Careful putting it in your tank. Some species are carnivorous.


yeah well i dont think it will make it in there any ways my tank is at the dimotons or how ever you say it stage of cycling,i want to see if it will come out at least and see what it is
 
Do you have a pic of the shell? If it's a baby queen conch, it's illegal to harvest them in the US. Might want to tell your daughter not to bring these things home, fines could get expensive.

no its a florida fighting conch he is cleaning my sand like crazy,they dont prew on fish or snails they stir the sand bed like crazy and there all over the florida beach u can get them right on the beach accourding to my friend who is a us cost guard and was at my home this week

Cool, I'm in SE Florida and we find both, Queens and Fighting conch. You just don't want to get caught with the wrong one.

yeah just dont take the queen if it has something living in it,if it empty you can take it,the florida fighting is great for sand bed on what im hearing he is moving my sand bed like i never seen lol

Yeah, they are both great for the sand bed. My daughter "4 years old at the time" snuck a queen into my livewell on trip to the sandbar, it's still in my tank and happy two years later. I didn't want to put it back due to all of the fresh water that they dumped from Lake Okeechobee right after. Then I forgot about it.
