What is this on my rock next to my zoas?

What is that green thing next to my zoas? It was red when i bought the rock so i thought is was coraline, but now has changed to a dark green, it is soft and kinda feels like velvet. I have no clue what it is and should i remove it? Any help would be appreciated.

I'll share with you the words I live by when it comes to reefing. If it's not coral, and I just don't know what it is, I remove it ASAP and flush it. Why? Not bragging, but I have thousands of dollars invested in my entire setup, tank, rock, corals, hardware etc, I'm not going to risk having an unknown in my tank that could potentially be devastating if gone unchecked. Sure it may be overkill, but I'd much rather be safe than sorry. That's just me, and I don't want to force that on anyone else, it's just words that I live be.

BTW, I have seen this before in my tank, there is a name for it, I'll check with a friend who had it and IDed it. It was brown when I had a patch of it. It peels off very easily if it's the same stuff. I will get back to you if I can get a name.

It looks like a sponge, I had some but scraped it off.

I agree it looks like sponge. Sponge is harmless. If you have any butterfly or angel fish then will pick at it.

Sponges are good if they are alive. They filter the water. I have several in my tank and some of them are pretty cool looking.

OK, guess I was looking at the wrong thing, LOL, pic is kind of fuzzy, didn't look like a sponge to me, but if it is, leaving it is find as Rackyrane said, but it can grow/spread and choke off those zoas in the pic. Therefore I would peel it off and trash it. Being sure to remove every speck as it can grow back if you don't.

It looks like a encrusting type sponge. I have had some of this in my tanks over the years and have found that it can become a pain.
I'd remove it

I have seen this kill zoos goes right over then scrape it off outside of tank and rinse with tank water put back in
