What is THIS!!!!!

So others won't need to click.

Some carpet anemone species were documented as internal brooders. I have not heard about BTAs releasing youngsters like that. Were you able to catch that ball?

BTA eggs have definitely been green before.....they sure look egg like to me, can't be sure of the source.

Sorry no picture. I was told on another site it looks like an injury, however I have seen injuries to my anemone before and they NEVER looked remotely close to this. I guess I'll have to see if any babies pop up. The egg "sac" was there one day and ruptured, I did not see anything released. Got up the next morning and it was gone, not sure if the entire "ball" came off or if the anemone just released the "eggs". Weird.

Here's a cropped and enlarged picture......I still have no clue? Anyway, it looks interesting at least.

It does look interesting.

Unless you have a proven female and a proven male in the same tank, you won't see any babies coming out of the tentacles (do BTAs reproduce sexually? We do not know)...

I contacted WWM, I'll just assume you all know them? Anyway I was told it looked like an injured tentacle, I'm not seeing how that looks injured. I'm glad I got to see it since I'll likely never see it again? Probably the most odd thing I've seen in my tanks.

I'm sure this is an easy to answer question? It seems ridiculous to ask in the first place :). Hmmm, can a clone be of different sex than the original? Here's why I ask, some fish can change sex, how about an anemone? I know, I know, stupid question but this has me wondering. I also found a picture of a "pregnant" female anemone and it does not look like this. The anemone has colored spots all over the tentacles, not one swollen spot....this will have me confused for a long time :). Reef keeping is such fun, isn't it?

Yes, we do know WWM folks.

Injured tentacles do not produce round things like the one in your picture, IMHO.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I'm very curious now, almost wish I would have cut the tentacle off??? I could have sent it somewhere to be "checked" out.

Waiting for Vaporize to cut the ball in half. He had similar occurrence to yours, but with a haddoni.

What else do you have in the tank and what are you feeding?

A few monti frags that were attached to the LR (not added on purpose), a hitchhiking palythoa, some Chaeto, and some dying bryopsis (dying on it's own). No fish, no other anemones other than the clone.

Here's what Anthony Calfo said "Hmmm... they can asexually planulate (or just release eggs that do not get fertilized)." He also asked if I examined them any further which I am not able to do. What do you guys think about this theory? Does it mean it's happy or stressed? Thanks.

Thats got me thinking a bit, Clownfish are anemones hosts as we all know and they can change theyre sex from male to female so maybe its the same with an anemones there might be a bit of a connection there.
