What is this?

You can see the mouth open. I have had it for about a month and a half now. It came as a hitch hiker with the Favite coral. Anything to worry about? Do I need to feed it? Any info or point me in the right direction will be appreciated.

thats cool, great hitchhiker :)

it's some type of encrusted bivalve but which, i'm not sure. you could add some phyto to the tank but he is probably getting what he needs.

great find, i'll look around and see if i can figure out exactly who he is.....

I have a similar hitch hiker on a large piece of LR in my tank. I have had it for about 3 years now and it still lives even after the move into the new tank.

Looks like a jewel box clam to me

i agree, maybe Spondylus varians ( oyster )

they aren't photosynthetic so adding some phyto to the water would be a good way to try and give him what he needs. i'm not sure how well he will do in captivity as they need to filter feed all day / night but good luck and keep us posted, please :)

rydr119, would love to see a pic of yours, 3 years is great, hopefully the OP will have the same luck.
