I may have missed it but what is your mag at? I was testing my water with red sea pro test kit and found out with a new test kit that my alk was at 6, calc 460, an mag 1000. My test kit was showing alk 8.5, calc 460, and mag 1250. the test kit was only 8 months old by my lfs said that there was a bad batch out about a year ago.
What is wrong with my tank?

Where is the tissue loss occurring on your SPS? If it's the tips, that's usually I indicative of an alkalinity swing, but the bases could be attributed to excess nutrients, pests (unlikely, considering LPS was also effected), salinity, etc.

The tissue loss was not consistent. base of the millie tips of one acro and some of the other acros were still flat on their discs with nothing branching off and they lost tissue in the middles and edges of them. lps is all normal now my wellso i think was just having a bad day. my branching, plating and encrusting montis are all normal.
I am going to calibrate my refractometer tonight and see if that might be the cause.
