^^ That would be why I don't drink the tap water...
Incoming TDs between 2000-3000. What is your tap water TDS at?
My brother has always thought the water where he lived in Salinas, CA was pretty bad tuns out he was right. Even after installing a BRS 75 GPD RODI everytime he added water to his tank he would have an algae bloom presumably because the water was high in PO4 and NO3 I was never able to actually test it myself I didnt have time. The filtered water tasted way better than the tap water did at least :strange: But because the water still could be used for his Salt Water tank he asked me for help. He won a Typhon 5 Stage RODI unit at the CHICO Frag Swap :celeb1: so I helped him do a serious Frankenstien upgrade to his RODI.
Stage 1 Sediment Filter
Stage 2 5 micron acid washed* Gem coconut carbon block filter, removing 98-99% of chlorine
Stage 3 1 micron acid washed* Gem coconut carbon block filter, that removes the remaining chemicals and chlorine
Stage 4 0.2 Micron Zetasorb filter will be installed soon http://www.marinedepot.com/SpectraPure_Zeta_Zorb_0.2_Micron_Absolute_Rate_Sediment_Cartridge_RO_DI_Sediment_Filter_Cartridges-SpectraPure-SP2111-FIRORPSD-vi.html
Stage 5 Trying out a new Air Water and Ice product a Phosphate filter http://theh2oguru.com/filters/individual-filters/phosphate-filter.html
Stage 6 75 GPD RO unit with wate water plumbed into a second 75 GPD RO Unit
Stage 7 and 8 are currently the same color changing DI Resin
There is an Auto Shut Off valve plumbed in as well as a "T" off the RO line for drinking water. There is also a T off the DI line one goes to a spigot the other to a 55 Gallon drum for salt water mixing. Additionally installed a Triple inline TDS. The Permeate pump was removed because the city water pressure was so high it did not work correctly.
I am at 47-49. Is it considered drinking water? If so, 500 is the safe limit for drinking water, I would certainly force the water company to fix the issue.
Because it is a polyphosphate filter - that's what it does. It is used in the industry to limit scale deposition - often in heating equipment like espresso machines and restaurant equipment. It's not used to remove phosphate.
