Mine averages about 835. The National average is about 250 so you are about average nationwide.
TDS alone does not tell the story though. Do you have chlorine or chloramines as a residual disinfectant? What are your hardness and iron levels?
I am not sure if you want a whole house RO or RO/DI unit. There is no need to filter TDS for bath water, laundry and things like that.
You can get a RO/DI unit that also serves up drinking water and can feed the icemaker though which is the route I went.
Although I had a hard time getting used to it myself after almost 50 years I finally got a water softener for the house. RO membranes love water softeners as they do much of the work for them. The softener really does not affect TDS as it replaces magnesium and calcium with potassium or sodium, but it does lower the carbonate hardness and iron if you have that.
If you have chloramines in your water you will want a better than average RO/DI system so it deals with both the chlorine and ammonia portions of the disinfectant. Some less expensive units struggle with ammonia and chloramines in general.
