What is your water's TDS level?

My water has measured 000 after RO/DI filtration and about 175 TDS right out of the faucet. I know that is quite low from others levels I have heard. Now lately my TDS reading right out of the faucet is only 73. It has been in the mid 70's for weeks now. Could it actually be that low? I live in SW OKC near 29th and May. What are your readings?

My filtered TDS reading as just gone up to 003. It is time to refill my DI pellets? They are a year old but I have not filtered a ton of water out of it though.

I have the same meter Paul and Tim use. DM-1 by HM Digital.

Russ,

AWI's instructions state that when the TDS reach 15ppm or if you have colour changing DI (changes from back to blond/rust colour), it's time to change the DI pellets.

I have changed mine out when the the reading is around 10, but that's just me.

btw, my TDS meter is also a HM Digital.

I wouldn't let the levels rise to 15ppm IMO. I change my DI resin any time the TDS goes above 0. You can extend the life of your resin by removing the resin cartridge from the unit and standing it upright instead of the laying down position it comes in. When they are laying down, the water tends to channel along the top and miss the resin. If your resin hasn't changed color fully, standing the cartridge up may bring the levels back to 0ppm without new resin.

175ppm tap readings are really good for OKC water, and 70's are great.

Russ, I'm around SW 15th and Penn and my tap water kills fish quickly. And I"m talking freshwater hardy fish, like guppies and molly's. I need to run a hose from your house over here!

WOW, 600? Does that even meet federal safety standards for drinking water? I wouldn't even want to take a bath in that i don't think eewwwwwww. It must be all the stink bait and shad guts i used to use fishing in Hefner.

Hefner is a hybrid plant, so some of the water they are treating comes from the sewer treatment plant at deer creek. Yummy, makes everyone wonder why you should have a household ro/di.

Didnt anyone watch that dirty jobs? God that was gross, seeing it go from mud, to muddy water, to clear water, to potable water. I dont know about that.

EEEEWWWWW, i have driven by the Deer Creek sewer plant many times and barely kept my lunch down lol. Hard to believe they can make something drinkable out of that. It's not much worse than the Overholser plant i guess. You would think all of the nice nieghborhoods in OKC would be on the south side just due to the drinking water sources. Atleast the southside plant gets it's water from Dirtybird and the little river. It might not be the cleanest water in the world to start with, but atleast it's not sewage.
I used to have all kinds of stomach problems when i lived in OKC that all went away when i moved here to Florida. The aquafer water here is pretty good. Lots of sulfer and mineral deposits, but other then that it's clean. Not drinking yesterdays lunch lol.
