Hello everyone, I'm puzzled again due to another fish loss and was hoping for some insight.
I purchased a 2.5" Single Spot Foxface Rabbitfish on 11/15/13.
It perished sometime last nite in my QT.
It was my third in the last 5 monthes.
They have all died about the same way. They eat and put some weight on, get along easily with tank mates and then suddenly after about a month stop eating, then start hiding and ultimately die.
She stopped eating two days ago, so I fished her out of the DT and put her in a QT. With no obvious symptoms I wasn't sure what to treat her with.
Figuring since there were no external signs that it must be some kind of internal parasite. So I started a treatment for two days with Instant Ocean Lifeguard.
Well I must have been wrong because like I said she died last night.
I have double checked all my tank water params and the rest of my livestock is and has been healthy for the last year. As I also stated before this was my third Foxface and now I'm feeling like I'm doing something wrong with this breed or something. She was eating mysis and bubble calupera, she didn't seem to care for the nori sheet but also liked picking any GHA in the DT she could find.
So I know I read here before but can not remember,.. what causes a fish to last for a month or so and then suddenly stop eating and die?
I've read cyanide poisoning can cause that. But how do you verify that.
Thanks.
Chris
