I don't know the exact species, but I've seen these before. They're a bit puffy and can be nippy with tiny fish, but they're one of the more peaceful species.
He looks a bit pale and scared. There's a possibility that he'll develop a yellow tail when he calms down.

Looks like a Blue Devil to me. Not too mean of a fish considering its name. Here is mine that I have had for many years:

Hard to tell from the blurry pic, but my guess is either a regular blue damsel(Chrysiptera cyanea) or a blue sapphire(Chrysiptera springeri). Both are some of the more peaceful damels.

You know, I now recall the tank had written on it "Springeri"and the price 9.99
and I do remember the nice man pointing to that, just before he caught my fish !
You have been very helpful. I searched and searched for Blue damsels and didn't find it.
When I searched Chrysiptera springeri the exact picture came up of my beautiful new fish !
Thank you so much, Tanging out. : )

I don't think it's a Springeri. The Springeri are usually a darker blue with metallic blue freckling on the upper half of the body. I have about 6 of the Springeri.

This is not a Blue Devil (And like Pinnatus I have several in my tank for many many years without any devil issues). The Blue devil gets to be a couple of inches long.

What you have is a smaller type of damsel, similar to the yellow tail. But just solid blue. Should be a well behaved fish, and will probably reach a max size of many 1.5"

Washed out springeri damsel. They come in 2 patterns, the so called "true" springeri, which is solid blue, and the other, more common variant being grey/black with blue zig zags all over it's body. There's been some dispute as to whether or not they should even be regarded as the same species (I believe a whole Reef Builders post was dedicated to this), but it looks to me like you definitely have one of the 2 springeri damsels, it just looks to be stressed out, or was possibly held in a tank with very low light for a long period of time. This is what they typically look like when they arrive from wholesale. Good luck, one of my favorites

Thanks for all your help

It had just arrived in my tank, when I took the pictures and had definitely lost colour.
Now has gained it back.
It hid in the rock overnight, then came out to play in morning and ate a ton.

It looks exactly like the Blue Sapphire in the link here, with the clear back fins and tail.

It gets quite dark in colour almost blackish purple, as well as the pretty blue . Is very adept at hiding in the live rock..
