What kind of fish is this?

This fish was caught in Hawaii (Oahu) and is around half an inch, but I am having trouble figuring out what kind it is.

Thoughts?

Did you capture it yourself? I would think if you purchased the fish that it would have a species identification with it when you buy it.

I cannot be positive, but it looks like some type of Damsel.

Caught in a tide pool. No real reason to go to pet stores here unless you want imported fish or I suppose labeled fish lol.

yep, it's a juvenile damsel of some kind (resembles the beau gregory of the Caribbean)

That's a long swim from Hawaii :dance:

Juvenile Phoenix (or Pink-barred) Damselfish, Plectroglyphidodon phoenixensis. Very uncommon to the main Hawaiian Islands, so nice find. Source: Shore Fishes of Hawai'i by John Randall.
