I bought it and they said its a sebae but i cant tell the difference between a sebae and a clarkii

FWIW I don't have any experience with these fish, but I've wondered, so I'll see where this goes....

that fish place sells this which looks like your fish, they call it allardi

liveaquaria sells
this which looks like your fish.

I realize their are differences in the representations, but there are also similarities...

Is it neither of these fish???

wow so who knows what the hell my fish is there seem to be so many types of clownfish out there that look so similar this is rediculous

Let's see. 4 people told you black A. polynmus. 2 people said they didn't know but guessed something else. Who do you think is right? :)

It is the black version of a saddleback clown (A. polymnus)

And you have nailed on the head the problem with the industry. The vast majority of resellers, wholesalers can not if they had to save their vary life correctly identify a clownfish's species.

In your example, LA got it right, the other did not.

To the OP... You have been told by some the best people on the board the correct ID.

honestly im not sure. the store i bought it from said is a sebae books ive found show it to be a clarkii and you guys are saying polynmus and others. I guess wishful thinking is taking me towards sebae cause id like to think i bought was i asked for but its tough i have seen so many variants of each species that i cant really make a decision. Im hoping that its some rare species that is worth millions but im sure thats wrong.

The yellow pectoral fins and face suggest a young black variant A. Polymnus Saddleback. See the last few pics of the site.

They are an aggressive species and get can get pretty large. very difficult to breed.

That's my opinion as well. The middle stripe extends along the dorsal fin which looks exactly like the saddlebacks. But the yellow on the mouth and pectoral pretty much seal the deal.

I am hoping so as well, but such is not the case. Would you like to see a few more juvenile black A. polymnus?

I think a clearer picture is needed if you want a clearer opinion.
There is no way that it can be anything but A. polymnus. This is a very simple 100% ID.
