What kind if glue should I use for gluing small pieces of acrylic on a glass tank?

Can I use silicone?

I am using 6'(L) x 2' (H) x 2"(W) AGA tank for sump. I will glue 2 pieces of acrylic on each side of the bottom corner for inserting a piece of 23" x 9" x 1/8" removable glass divider. The size of each acrylic is 5" x 1.5" x 3/8". The sides which will be glued to the tank corner is 5" x 3/8" and 1.5" x 3/8" (not 5" x 1.5").

Will it be last as long as glass gluing on glass?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

There really is no good way to glue acrylic to glass. silicone might hold it short term but will almost definitly come apart in time. It just doesn't stick to the acrylic. If you can use glass instead i would reccomend it, glass is cheap anyway, and you can just silicone it and forget about it.

Scott and Bill,

Thank you for your response, but I am confused.

Do both of you mean they will hold, but not too long? How long can it be?

I'll bow down experience on this one. It doesn't have much stress on it so it will probably hold well enough.

The scuffing will make silicone lock onto the acrylic and it will than hold well. Just make sure all surfaces are clean, dry, and oil free ;)
