hello,

i have a nem tank with bta's, and not sure if i have too much or not enough lighting for them.

i was wondering what kind of lights people are using to successfully keep bubble tip nems?

any par readings?

any lighting that you have found works best for the brightest colors?

if they are led's please share what percent you have them turned up to.

thanks!

Hi,

I currently keep 1 rose anemone, 5 rainbow roses, 1 orange tip gtba, 1 green bta, and a green tip purple bta under 6x 54 watt t5 HO.

4 Blue plus, 1 coral plus, 1 purple plus, no idea on par as I don't have access to a meter.

I have a little over 30 BTAs in my 185 gallon tank. I run two Radion G2 Pros over the tank set at 45% Intensity.

cool... thanks! have you noticed any color change for better or worse?

radions make bta color's pop! considering going with them or razors. not sure if they would make enough of a difference to justify the cost difference from my rb.

any color changesince you have had the bta's?

did you dim the lights and let the bta's adjust slowly, or just crank them up to 45%?

I started the Radions at a two week acclimation. Their colors look different depending on whee the lights are in their cycle.

I have three BTA's that started as one small one under t5. Two ATI Blu plus and purple plus and GE white. I only directly feed once ever 5 weeks

1 under a Reefbreeder Photon 48, 65B 50W IIRC. He has the metallic base and even has some green in his base. I've had him a month and in that time he's doubled in size and his colors have deepened.

I spot feed Mysis with a turkey baster 2-3 times a week.

nice... thanks for the info. is that a small species, frag, or fuge connected to your dt in your avatar? looks pretty cool, whatever it is. i'm thinking about piping in a small tank to my 75g for a small species tank

awesome! thanks for the info. i have photons as well. i will slowly raise the led settings. are you happy with the colors the bta has under those lights?

Here's a good picture which really shows off his colors, sadly I have to take a picture of him at an angle through the glass and it distorts the sharpness :( I love my reefbreeder though

I have 5 gbtas (and a magnifica) under kessil A360W's, and I have honestly never seen anemones look as good ever. These specific anemones (or their clone "parents") have been with me for about 10 years now, through 150W and 400W halides and a boat load of T5's, and the Kessils have them looking the best by far over the last year or so.

amoo, i really like that bta! if it ever splits, i would be happy to give one of the clones a good home :) here is a purple w/ blue'ish silver tipped bta i just picked up. i am going to give the nems a couple weeks, and them start ramping up the led's.

ruu, that is good to know. would you mind sharing some pics?

I have my rainbow BTAs under AI sol super blues. Light is about 14" from surface and tank is about 17" deep. 30%W, 35%B, 35%RB. One of them just split yesterday! I was surprised by how fast it was.

nice... how about some pics?

i have had some of my bta's that get brighter, some fade, and some that seems to kind of brown out. i'm wondering if my lights are a contributing factor, it's just them adjusting to the tank, or what...

here is a pic of one of my favorite bta's. i have also had it the longest. i have a couple others that have faded and browned out though. thoughts???

I'm currious about this too. I'm still waiting for my tank (jbj nano28) to mature a while longer, but plan to pick up a bta and a pair of clowns once its ready. I'm running a Current Marine LED with whites at 25% and blues at 75% during the day, and blues at 10% for 4 hours of moonlight. I also have an aquascape that provides areas with different levels of light as well as varrying amounts of flow. I realize the bta will move to find a spot it likes, but I'm leaving a nice sized area free for it to roam, hoping it will stay relatively close.

The pic is not very recent, i have added a bit more coral since. But I feel like the "shelf" rock on the right hand side is a good spot. plenty of room for a bta of about 3-4", tons of light and great flow. Also pic is under only white on 100% so you can actually see a more realistic image. My phone hates any other spectrum.
